KOBA Craft is a small-batch distilled liquor brand born in 2021 from a quest to create a gin that offers a smooth and refined tasting experience.
Driven by the desire to find a product that captures the distinctive aroma of gin while being gentle on the palate, we began experimenting with various distillation methods. The result is KOBA Gin that captures the signature aroma of the spirit while delivering a soft, elegantly aromatic and exceptionally smooth experience with every sip.
KOBA Craft has strategically entered the craft gin market as a gateway to the art of craft distilling. By partnering with seasoned distillers in the Eastern Cape, we’ve created a product that boasts explosive flavors, leaving a lingering impression on the tongue with a gentle warmth as it’s enjoyed.
The name KOBA was chosen for its deep connection to nature and reflects the essence of our brand. "KOBA" refers to a wild banana plant that blooms just once at the end of its life, symbolizing rarity and natural beauty. Additionally, KOBA is the name of an organic confectionery, embodying the natural sweetness we strive for in our product.
Our gorilla logo, a symbol of a “gentle giant,” perfectly encapsulates our vision of a product that is bold yet smooth and maintaining its distinctive identity while offering a rich, organic experience. KOBA Craft was inspired by the search for the “Pearl in the Land of a Thousand Hills,” representing our journey to create a gin that harmonizes organic purity with a naturally sweet profile, making its mark in the gin world.
KOBA Gin is the inaugural product under the KOBA Craft flagship, launched with two distinct flavors that are currently available in the market. One of these flavors has already garnered significant recognition, winning a SA Craft Gin Award in 2021, a recent silver medal at the International Wines and Spirits Competition and a double gold medal at the Michelangelo International Wines &Spirits Awards in 2024.
